CEC Cooperative Work Program
The Commission for Environmental Cooperation’s Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) will hold its first regular session of 2011 in Mexico on 4-5 April. The meeting will focus on the draft CEC cooperative work program and a review of the Citizen Submissions on Enforcement Matters process. JPAC’s public sessions are an important way for citizens of Canada, the United States, and Mexico to participate in and contribute to the CEC’s work.
Attendance at the sessions is free and open to all, although space is limited. Nonprofit organizations and individuals may request financial support for travel and lodging expenses by submitting an early registration form. Simultaneous English, French, and Spanish interpretation will be available at all sessions. The agenda and pre-session materials are posted on the CEC website. The sessions are webcast, and an online virtual discussion forum will be opened a few days before the events to allow participants to submit questions and comments remotely.
The forum will explore opportunities for sustainable freight transportation, including the use of alternative fuels and energy sources to reduce emissions from North American trucking operations. It will also address challenges and barriers that need to be addressed in order to implement these initiatives. The forum will feature speakers from government, industry, and NGOs, as well as representatives from communities. Forum exited stealth mode in December 2021 with a $7.5 million seed funding round led by Obvious Ventures and Homecoming Capital.
